Not Seeing is Believing! Smokecloak is an entirely new and completely harmless non-toxic, smoke-based intruder deterrent for premises of all types - from office to warehouse. Designed to integrate fully with modern detection systems, it's targeted at those crucial few minutes before the arrival of security personnel. Activated, Smokecloak discharges an impenetrable, fog-like white smoke - instantly. It first disorientates an intruder and then makes further progress by him into the protected area near-impossible:-
Background Smokecloak came into being because of a need. Having survived for 15 years without a burglary the Smokecloak inventor found is business the victim of a crime. As if being targeted wasn't enough the premises were attacked 7 times in 8 months. A sophisticated alarm panel, shutters and bollards were not good enough to stop determined criminals entering the premises and removing the stock. Advice was sought from the various authorities, police, insurance and security companies. Everyone accepted that you couldn't stop a determined villain. The best you could hope for was to slow him down and give the security forces the chance to respond to the alarm. As there was nothing currently available the solution had to be created. This resulted in the first Smokecloak being built and installed. System Uses Today the Smokecloak system is sold in over 40 countries around the world making Smokecloak the world leader in smoke security systems. In the UK the system is used by high street banks, petrol stations, computer companies, retails shops, jewellers, golf shops, motor cycle retailers, insurance companies, antique shops, retail warehouses, architects', doctors' and solicitors' practices, graphic houses, computer showrooms, Government agencies, printing and design studios. The Operation The procedure for setting an alarm fitted with a Smokecloak is exactly the same as for an alarm system without a Smokecloak. Smokecloaks are fully automatic. They are switched on and off (activated and deactivated) via the alarm panel and are triggered by the alarm being set off. During the day, when the alarm panel is switched off, the Smokecloak is automatically disarmed. The action of disarming the alarm panel electro-mechanically disconnects the pumps from the control electronics, which prevents the Smokecloak from making smoke even if it were to receive a trigger or signal to fire. Quality Assurance Smokecloak is approved by the LPCB to ISO9002: 1994 and LPS 1213: Issue 1 for the supply of smoke security devices. Smokecloak is an active member of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and fully complies with the BSIA Code of Practice for the Manufacture, Installation and Maintenance of Smoke Security Products. The Smokecloak range of products is backed with a three-year warranty on the machines and a fully comprehensive worldwide insurance policy which includes end user public liability cover. The Smoke The Smokecloak fluid is made to our own unique formulation, which has been fully tested. The production of the fluid is monitored by batch numbers. The fog is created by vaporising a specially formulated glycol solution. Glycol is classified as a food stuff and is found in many day to day circumstances such as toothpaste and deodorants. The vapour produced is a dense white fog, which reduces visibility to less than 30cm, practically nil visibility, but which under normal usage is harmless to anything found inside industrial premises, offices and shops. Due to the small amount of liquid required to protect a room there is virtually no residue when the vapour condenses and disappears.
Design and Construction From the outset, the Smokecloak system has always been made specifically for the security market. Proven and known technology was sought out and combined in a unique way to create our patented product. Smokecloak were designed to be fully compatible and integrated with modern detection and alarm systems. Safety required that the Smokecloak be automatically disabled when the premises were occupied during the day and then automatically re-armed when the protected area was vacated and the alarm panel re-set. Safety is paramount throughout every aspect of the design and construction of the machine. To this end the machines have been rigorously tested, they comply with all the safety standards and are CE approved. Tamper evidence and resistance to attack was incorporated into the machines from the design stage. This is clearly seen in the strength of materials and circuit controls used in the current range of machines. The Objective How do you slow a villain down and ideally prevent the removal of any items before the security forces or key holder attends? You could hide the valuables, to stop the villain from finding the goods he was after or secure the valuables, to prevent the villain from being able to remove the goods from the site for say 30 minutes. Even if it were practical, the removal or hiding of valuables is not sustainable in the long term. Bolting everything to the ground or wall is equally impractical. A method of protecting the property for a sufficient time to allow the security forces to respond to the alarm was required. The Solution To cover the area to be protected in a fine vapour reducing the visibility to less than 30cm, practically nil visibility, then to maintain the density of vapour and the nil visibility until an authorised person arrives and switches off the alarm. In other words a smoke security device - a Smoakcloak. System 15 Dimensions Weight
